For OES and more: Spectrometers and Spectroscopy Products based in Singapore

Spectrometers can be used for various applications, including optical emission spectrometry (OES). OES is an analytical technique used to trace elements in metals. This technique is commonly employed to test samples from the melt in primary and secondary metal production, and in the metals processing industries.

OES uses the visible and ultraviolet parts of the electromagnetic spectrum with wavelengths of about 130 to 800 nanometers. This allows it to trace metals with very high accuracy, high precision and low detection limits.

Frequently Asked Questions About OES Spectrometers in Singapore

How Does OES Work?

Optical emission spectrometry works by generating a spark between an electrode and a metal sample to bring the vaporized atoms to a high energy state within a “discharge plasma”. Every element will then emit a series of spectral lines at a fixed wavelength. Individual spectral line peak signals are collected to determine the element.

What Data Do Spectrometers Collect?

Spectrometers measure the frequency emitted by a substance.

What Are The Advantages Of Using OES?

Some advantages of OES over other analytical methods include being fast and relatively easy to use, its ability to measure a wide range of elements and concentrations in various types of materials, and its high accuracy levels even when measuring low levels of trace and tramp elements.
