Frequently Asked Questions About High Power UV/NIR LED Sources In Singapore

What Is UV?

UV stands for Ultra Violet light and has shorter wavelengths that lie between visible light and x-rays. UV radiation wavelengths start at 10 nm up to 400 nm. They are further divided into subcategories depending on wavelength and characteristics, such as Near Ultraviolet which is visible to insects and birds.

What Is NIR?

NIR is short for Near-Infrared, which lies within the 750 to 1,400 nm wavelength, just a bit longer than the visible light spectrum. NIR is used in various applications, such as product identification, chemical and physical determination, and even astronomy.

What Is The Difference Between IR And NIR?

IR stands for Infrared and encompasses a wide range of wavelengths from 700 nm to 1mm. It is divided into a few subdivisions, one of which is NIR or Near Infrared. It is the one which is closest to the visible spectrum, just above 700nm.

What Are LEDs?

LEDs, or Light Emitting Diodes, are electronic components that release light when turned on. IR and UV LEDs are specialised LEDs that emit Ultra Violet light or Infrared Light instead of visible light.
